UMBRELLA DISH

PARTY AT 1ST DIBS FOUNDER'S HOUSE

I was lucky enough to be invited to a private party by Gloria Vanderbilt, -- artist, designer, true renaissance woman. At 90 Gloria is still making art, and this was an intimate gathering to exhibit her latest work. The setting was the home of 1st dibs founder Michael Bruno and his moviestar handsome antiques dealer partner, Andrew Jakowec. The art was beautiful, personal, primarily pastel or mixed media, $7,500-$36,000. The focal piece above the fireplace was "Anderson 360", not for sale. Anderson Cooper, is Gloria's famous TV journalist son. He was at the party with a slew of notable artists, writers, and designers. Before I left, I made sure to treat myself to a tour of the 3 story house, rife with fabulous idiosyncratic furniture like Arne Norell leather strappy chairs, white Saarinen chairs with zebra hide seats, a mirror adorned with a collection of horns, and a folk art life size lamb.
