Antiques

Umbrella’s select family of dealers supply us with an ever changing mix of antiques, from Louis XV to Hollywood Regency, Art Deco to Rococo.   They have their own well guarded sources from the mainline of Philadelphia, North Jersey, Connecticut,  New York City suburbs, Nantucket and Maine. One of them travels to small towns in France several times a year to import 19th century pieces, including characterful country farm tables.  You never know what you’ll find at our shop, thanks to the best dealers who are constantly on the hunt.

Midcentury Modern

Midcentury Modern furniture is widely sought after by Umbrella’s clientele, so about a third of the collection is from this period.  We always have the glitz factor in the mix, with lucite and animal prints somewhere to be found.  There’s particular emphasis on designer pieces by tastemakers such as Milo Baughman, Charles and Ray Eames, Vladimir Kagan and Adrian Pearsall.  We also keep an eye out for contemporary winners like George Smith and Roche Bobois, with greatly reduced secondary market prices.

Accessories, Lighting & Art

A designer’s dream, accessories range from the classical antique to the unexpected rare and curious artifact, to ultra modern. Lighting includes what we can find from high end designers such as Holly Hunt, Visual Comfort, and Circa,  juxtaposed with Murano or salvaged vintage fixtures from magnificent estates and historic buildings such as the original Plaza Hotel in NYC.  Our rotating art collection has something for every style, from impressionist landscapes to abstract modern paintings.  New work by Umbrella founder, Fay Sciarra, is prominently included in the showroom. Her paintings, mixed media collages and assemblages, have been exhibited in galleries around the country and have a constant home at Umbrella.
